invisibility

Lets list some advantages to the two opposing sides before we decide. Shall we..

Invisible... You could sneak anywhere you want to take pics... like the side of a professional sporting event.
and with my 18 year old mind I could sneak into the girls locker room.
Fly..... You can fly to your destinations which could be safer.
You could fly back and forth on the sporting field to capture all the best moments instead of running or just missing them.

I still don't know

Would the invisibility be me AND my clothes? Like an invisibility aura? I wouldn't want to have to be naked to be invisible.

What about dirt? Do I need to clean my fingernails if I want full invisibility?

What about what I've just eaten? That'd be gross watching it go through the digestive process. I'd want to be "Invisible Man!" Not "Poop Floating In Mid-Air Man".

Would I leave invisible dents in the floor? I'm thinking that if I were invisible and my shoes were invisible, that I'd be making a small part of the floor invisible and It'd look like too dents in the floor.

Can I make myself visible again? That'd suck to be invisible all the time.

Can I see when I'm invisible? If all light were to pass through me without stopping, how would my retinas pick up the light without them becoming visible. It'd suck to be blind when I'm invisible. What's the point of going into the girls locker room? I'd be "Invisible Groper Man" and that's not too cool.

Speaking of the girls locker room, can I make my 5D invisible and still take pictures?

Oh, and can I steal stuff and make my loot sack invisible?

But back to my eyes. Would light be leaking in through the sides of my eyes? If the light can come from anywhere, I'm thinking I'd have a hard time focusing on things because of light leakage. Light coming from behind my retina would suck too. How would the lens of my eye bend the light without people noticing that I'm there?

Maybe invisibility isn't for me.

So what about this flying thing?

Do I do it like Superman? I will myself into the air and move around? I'd hate to have to provide my own propulsion. I don't think broccoli powered flight is the way to go. Unless I get an afterburner assembly maybe.

How fast can I go? It'd be nice to go super fast, but I've stuck my head out the car window at 80 miles per hour and I can't see a thing. Flying backwards just to see would really suck and wouldn't be safe. I guess I'll need a face mask of some sort.

How high can I fly?

If I go too high and pass out from lack of oxygen, will I fall to the ground? Will I hover there forever? What if I was flying upward at the time; will I go into outer space? Will I float to the ground gently? Will I be a victim of the winds and end up in some lake?

What is my load capacity? It'd suck to be able to fly, but I can't take anything with me. Without that invisibility power, flying naked is likely to get me shot at. I could dead lift 200lbs as it is right now, but can I then fly with it and not be straining with the lift?

Can I turn it off? I'd hate to wake up on the ceiling. Floating out the window while in the middle of sex would be either cool or wrong depending on if you're my wife or my mean old neighbor.

Can I turn it on while driving? Traffic sucks.

Besides just having fun and getting shot at during duck season what's the super plus side of flying? I can't think of anything but getting cats out of trees. Depending on my load allowance, all I could do for a stranded construction worker is bring him some coffee. Flying no faster than 80mph into a head wind is not really the best way to go more than 50-60 miles. I'd rather drive. Don't get me wrong, but flying may not be for me.

Can you bump into another invisible person or do you go right through them?

Flying is cool...but then if you are seen, then you will be treated like a freak and subject to gov't experimentation...that would suck.

Girl's locker room...how juvenile...I like it.

Furf,
Hmm... it is tough to decide as both have there goods and bads...

option 1: Being invisible would be perfect for stealth photography, but the subjects would still see the camera. Being invisible all the time would get boring quick and could be a pain dealing with friends.........

option 2: Flying, ahh.... I could fly anywhere to take photos that I wanted to (as long as the FAA don't mind), but would the camera be able to handle it and it does get cold up there.............

When you say fly, are we talking superman-in-space-can-hold-breath-for-20-years kind of flying or flying-squirrel-really-just-controlled-falling kind of flying? This is an important point!!

ironchef31

I think invisibility would be safer. You could find out thinks like:
Is there actually gold in Fort Knox
Does the president wash his hands after going to the bathroom

Or just hang out at:
White House
Pentagon
CIA headquarters
FBI headquarters

Or have front row seats to any event you want.
It's not that great a power so there isn't great responsibility.

(do you give of a heat signature?)

Of the two, fly no question..
I have flying dreams of varying types (from minor levitation to full blown Superman leaving the atmosphere) all the time. Weekly in fact.
I've never had an invisible dream.

But (and guys,.. just FYI,.. everyone who answers this thread is a geek) but, if given my druthers,..
I want to be Magneto (from the Comics, not some old British Actor :) )
Then I'd get flight (of a sorts) and all kinds of other stuff mixed in.

You bump into them, your thinking of losing your corporeal state all together, which is an entirely different thing :)
Then you too could fly, pass through walls etc.. as your physical body is no longer bound by our laws of physics, or more accurately, is essentially not even there.

At first I thought flying wouldn't be such a good thing for me since I'm afraid of heights, but then I thought about never being stuck in rush hour traffic... never having to wait for a delayed flight at the airport... being able to go anywhere I want, whenever I want... give me the flying! I'll get used to the heights!

Flying, makes traveling easier. Plus I'll fly really high up and wear some sky blue camo clothing carrying a 1000mm canon L lens and start shooting everyone with it. It'll be my err spy lens... somehow that lens will have to defy gravity too.

No brainer for me!
Definitely invisible.
Think of what I could do and where I could go with that power.
What I could do.....well, I better not say here.
Places I'd go, some places best not said too....but I'd go invisible and hop on any plane I want.
The only thing that would suck is my camera would probably not be invisible so I'd have to buy a new one at each location.
But then again that could be a good thing.

To me it wasn't. The Matrix is one of the greatest movies made in my lifetime. The sequels, I'd be very surprised if I ever watched again. I don't think I'll ever be that disappointed in a movie again.

If you can fly as fast as you want without worrring aboot seeing things hitting you in the face or wieght, I think its reasonable that the invisibles not give off a heat signiture.

I wonder if this is a psychological test... if you want to fly you're insecure so you want to show the world you're special... if you want to be invisible you're insecure so you want to hide yourself:lol:

Wanting to fly,. makes you insecure?

Now that is some twisted psychology if ever I saw it.
Keep in mind, we are photographers,..
If I could fly, I could be taking photos pf Manikins in Brazillian rain forests this morning ,. and be shooting Bee Eaters in the Okavango delta by sunset.. it would cost me nothing more than a nice pair of goggles (keep bugs out of my eyes) and the cost of packing a lunch :)

Personally I practically worship the birds on this planet,. to aspire to fly with them is as natural as can be.

With the abilities we dream of at my disposal, i'd be taking photos and making films that would make "Winged Migration" look like a super 8 home movie.. :)

The third option missing from this poll would be to be able to swim with the dolphins IMHO.

Similar arguments for enhanced photographic opportunities would certainly be made for invisibility,. access to areas and lifeforms that one could not gain otherwise. (though I'd much rather being photographing a pride of lions hovering 10 feet above them than to try and do it while invisible, yet on the ground in striking range!!!

Been there, done that. It was fun. It would have been more fun had it been out in the open ocean and not with a "Dolphin Experience" company in a netted in enclosure.

Granted, the dolphins could easilyhave jumped out of the enclosure, but it kind of ruined the experience. However, twisting the dial of my dive watch certainly did mess with the trainers and whatever clicking device they were using. The dolphins kept coming back to me :)

As for which super power I would rather have, it's tough.

If I could fly, I could go anywhere I wanted at any time. It would be great to go to Grand Cayman for the day and go SCUBA Diving.

However, invisibility would let me find out what really IS in Area 51.

Pure semantics. I never said anything about flying at supersonic speeds but certainly if you fly, you can have a pretty clear view of whats in front of you, and lets say you get into some clouds or fog, wouldnt the logical thing when that happens is to slow down? Or lower to a level where you feel safe about not running into something, I certainly wouldnt mind flying at 100ft or so.

Im positive if you ran as fast as you can then covered your eyes you would slow down, same logic with flying:D
