Which one should i get!?! I can't decide...I'll also be getting the Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di, so I cant decide if i need the zoom capabilities or not. I think zoom would be nice to have, but I've seen some incredible shots from the Tokina lately. Can anyone help me? Price can be taken into consideration here...is it worth the extra money for the zoom and the L quality?

Only you can decide if it's worth the money for zoom.
As far as L quality is concerned, the Tokina is very, very close (it even beats the wide angle L zooms in categories like flare resistance and distortion, and is built just as good as the L lenses and includes a 3x longer warranty).

Hmm, and its a fraction of the price....sounding very tempting at the moment. Especially since, with the Tamron, i'll only be missing about 10mm.
And the 17-40 has gotten 4 votes...but no posts. Can anyone say why they would get it over the 17mm Tokina?

Because it's a Canon, and it's a zoom, and it has a good reputation.
I havent voted for either, because as I said, only you can decide if the zoom is worth it.
If you painted a red stripe on the Tokina, and told someone it was a Canon L, nobody would know the difference because it's built so darn well.
Actually, the USM is quieter on L lenses, but the manual focus ring is smoother on the Tokina (and the autofocus isn't really that loud either).
