Can anyone recommend a descent yet affordable flash for my EOS 30 35mm?
I dont want to spend alot cos i will only use it about once a month but i still want something that is going to perform when i need it to.
I would say i want to stay as close to £100 as possible, if i can get one for less than that i will be happy. Ive just seen the SPeedlite 300 EZ on ebay which is at about £11.99 at the moment but it still has 5 hours left.

Depends how much you're gonna use it I'd say. I got a mint 550EX from Walters Photo Video last year for £120, which works on both digital and the EOS 30, which accepts EX guns too.
Do you have a digital body, or are you planning on getting one soon? In this case, I'd get an EX series instead of an EZ and you'll be able to use it on both cameras with ETTL.

i plan on getting a digital body in the distant future. i have a Pentax k100D at the moment so i am gonna try and save up to trade that in for another EOS but a digital so i can use all my equipment on it. How can i tell if a flash is going to be compatible with both my 35mm and a DSLR? will it just say?

Ive just seen the SPeedlite 300 EZ on ebay which is at about £11.99 at the moment but it still has 5 hours left. The EZ models will NOT work on current EOS DSLR's, at least not with any sort of ETTL automation.
I would suggest you invest in the Canon 430EX Speedlite.

The EOS 30, being a newer film camera works in ETTL with both EX and EZ flashes.
Any digital body will work with EX flashes in ETTL, but will not work with EZ flashes in ETTL, just manual. So, I would buy an EX flash so you can use all of it's features on both cameras. An EZ flash would be cheaper, but then you'd want to buy an EX flash for your digital body, so just get an EX first time I'd say, a used 430EX is probably a good bet, and close to your budget.
