Let me know what your thoughts are on it. I was thinking about using the advanced version for my website for now.

Some days it can be annoyingly slow. But the ease of use is outstanding.

poke around in the galleries forum. You will get a better response :)

I used to use smugmug but switched to zenfolio. This is just an interim solution while I am teaching myself website development to create my own picture hosting site.

A lot of people use it.

If you decide to try it, you can get $5 off your fee by using my referral code:

Generally speaking its a great service. I have some issues with certain things, but they do at least seem to listen.

If you really want to see the good, bad and ugly of SmugMug lurn in support sections of the dgrin forum: www.dgrin.com

BTW - You do know you can sign up for a seven day "free" trial before actually committing to a year's service, right? I test drove for about five days to be sure it was going to be a good fit.

My first year is just about up and I dont think I am going to renew. It works well with the shopping cart ect.. and they are always updating it to make it a little better. I would just like more customization that is easier ( I know nothing about HTML or CSS ) So for me the default layouts are not appealing which means I cant make my site look as I wish. Other than that I think it is a pretty great site.

I like it. I to know nothing about html or CSS coding but have done a lot of changes. There are some things I would like to change that I can't but I can live with it. The owners and staff are awesome. Any e-mail i have sent was responded to almost automatically......with an answer.

I'm a smugmugger. I dont use most of what it offers and I have a pro account...lol. I would like to learn a little more about dressing my gallery up a bit but I never find the time to investigate. All in all I think its great. Two thumbs up for me....

I love smugmug. It takes few strokes to download you photos and the shopping card is a PLUS! I give then 10 (out of 10). I just renew my 1 year pro membership.

SmugMug and Zenfolio are the two most popular around here. Both are very good. I would recommend getting a trial account for each and given them a test drive. Then you will know what you like and don't like about each.

Also take a look at the below thread, it has a nice list of some of the available hosting sites.

Personally I am a Zenfolio user and love it. But take a look for yourself everyone's needs are different.

I use smugmug and I very happy with it. It takes a bit to get your site up and running, but the documentation will get you there - eventually. It could be streamlined, but now its up and running I won't be switching soon. BTW, I also use the Pro account and have sold numerous photos.

Was using SmugMug but i switched to Zenfolio. Couldn't be happier about Zenfolio to be honest.

SmugMug is dreadfully slow but i must admit they have fantastic customization possibilities. Costumer service is top notch on both places. Though i much prefer ZF's sleek interface and speed.

I use Exposure Manager but can see why people like Zenfolio.
All three, SmugMug,Exposure Manager and Zenfolio have ther pros and cons, It really comes down to what features, beyond the basics you want. The fees are pretty close and a 2% difference on one order may not seem like much but can really add up. From what I experienced at Expopsure Manager and from what I read about here, All three have excellent customer service.

I love it. Their customer service is outstanding.

And a fantastic finished product is very easy.

One of the things I like about Smug is the ability to offer digital downloads.

That's the main reason I went with SmugMug and have been very pleased with the experience :)

Hey August,

I would love to put you in touch with one of our customization gurus at SmugMug and get a little extra help.

We hate to see you go over something we can help out with. If can't make it like you want period, then I understand.

Let me know,
Markham

I LOVE smugmug, I know next to nuttin' about HTML or any other web stuff, but I was able to do a little reading, cut/paste and was able to put together a customized site. I'm still learning, but I love playing around with it. You can check out mine, everything on there, slideshow, banners, buttons and gallery, were done pretty much by reading the dgrin forums.

oh...OP, you have PM.

I couldn't be happier with mine. If you don;t know how to do something there's always plenty of online help and a forum too!

I'm with smuggy, been with them for 1.5 years, and will probably renew again.

Despite working in the industry, when I get home I reallly can't be bothered with creating or customising my own site. (What do you mean I'm lazy??? :p ) I just use the default layouts and they serve me fine.
