Just did a massive update to my website with all my live and promo band work (as well as some portraiture). Take a look at www.dangillan.com I'd love to hear some C&C on my work! Thanks.

Nice site.
slow loading home page.
Why the "Galleries" bit if you allready have "Bands", "Live Music" and "People"?

thanks.
wasnt aware of the slow loading home page, ill look into it.
the galleries is for full galleries from a certain concert whereas only one or two of my favorites of that gallery will end up in the live link.

Nice site. Clean, easy to navigate and great images. Some of the images look either over sharpened or like you've used the 'clarity' feature in LR a bit too much.

dont use lightroom, but it could be a resizing issue. i'll look into it. do you recall which images?

what do you guys think of the work? i've been on the forum for a long time, just never posted much in this section (or any for that mater :))

Good site. I like that you have different sections for live shots, bands and people and a separate section for galleries. Ive ben thinking of implementing organization like this on my site (main links for portfolio work, separate link for just all my images). Site loads fast and looks professionally done. Also, I love that the main image is different every time you load.

Ive previously seen your work on the BLG website, its cool to see that you are a member of POTN. You seem to have a great portfolio going.

How exactly does one go about getting a job like that with a band? It is just all about who you know or what. That seems like it would be a really cool experience.

pure flash website, bad move, hard for SEO to pick up on you.

The site itself is quite simple, but effective, maybe benefit from open spacing a bit more

the only flash part of the site are the simple viewer galleries. so only the photos. all the text is not part of the flash. thanks for the input.

Hey Dan,

I've been trying to get into more band photography and had a look at your site. Lots of great stuff there. Love the creativity of the band promo shots. Which lens did you use to get the shot of the four guys in the back seat of the car? Some really nice work you got going on there!

Great photos! I'm trying to come up with ideas for my sons' band. So thanks for the inspiration :)

What lenses are you using for the concert photos?

thanks guys. as far as concert lenses, pretty much only the 24-70 and the 70-200. on the 5D, im using the 70-200 2.8L IS about 75% of the time.

The 24-70 2.8L and 70-200 2.8L are my dream lenses right now.

I dig the rotating images on the homepage. I just had my site re-done, and was going to do something like that, but didn't.

I'm now re-thinking that decision...

They are the concert shooter's Holy Grails...
