I originally posted these under Landscapes...woops:
These pictures are of the Fun Forest amusment park in Seattle Center (under the Space Needle). There is absolutly no one riding the rides (the reason it is being closed after next season). I hope you like my pictures of the most depressing amusment park on earth. Any comments are appreciated.

I was at Seattle Center a couple of weeks ago. Very depressing how it has changed over since I moved here over 25 years ago. Nice shot of the ferris wheel; I remember riding that one.

Also like the shot of the maintenance guy. Talk about just going through the motions, brought out all the more by the vibrant red/yellow background.

As I've looked at these, I'm reminded what photography can do in terms of not just showing the present but evoking the past. I lived on lower Queen Anne way back when (think $425/month rent for a 2-bedroom duplex). I used to put my son (now in grad school) in the stroller and we'd walk through the Fun Forest and go to the fountain, etc., on nice days. My how things have changed. Obviously those not familiar would not have the same reaction, but to me you've captured the essence of it pretty well.

Does this capture the essence of the maitenance guy better?

I prefer the first one. But that may be because I have a bit of knowledge of what's going on at the 'fun' forest right now. Of course the second evokes the 'faded glory' perhaps.
