Last night i went up to Barbagallo Raceway (Perth WA)
for a night drift Practice
I tried a few new things, like wandering round the track, looking and shooting, rather than just going straight to the brightest bits of the track
i hate using Flash, and at drift events it just bounces of the smoke and makes your pics go white, so i try to avoid flash when i can.
here are a few of my shots

shutter tripped by Voice activated remote (my wife) - flash set of manually at 1/1 by me 50 or so metres down the track

I like the third shot, front wheel frozen, real wheel spinning. Not tried shooting night high speed subjects, but can imagine that it's not easy, think you did well.

That third one does look pretty good, the way you can actually see the spin from the rear wheels is impressive dude, and the way the front is completely frozen is a good shot because it wouldnt have been frozen for long.

All in all dude that third shot is brilliant. Well Done.

this track has really poor lighting
#1 is the main straight - which isnt too bad, maybe 1/125 @ 2.8 - 3200 Iso
the rest of the track is generally 1/4 with 1/30 - 1/60 in the brightest spots
i got sick of using the one good well lit spot, as it is hard to get to, and isnt that spectacular (i have also done it to death)
i figured i would try to get some shots with minimal flash, and got some ok kinda stuff

the silver FD - probably would have had the back wheels frozen had i had the flash power up a little more, i just wanted a little bit of light to fill in the shadows towards the front of the car, the back end seemed a bit better lit
