Myself and a few friends headed over at Brands Hatch today for the British Superbike Qualifying. While I'm not the biggest of bike fans I decided to head along and have a bit of an experiment. By the end of the day my panning skills had certainly been practiced!

Results were mixed as there is a real challenge to getting sharp bike shots from these events (for me anyway). I've flicked through my collection from the day (some of which appear to be lost at the moment on a corrupt card) and my hit rate was much lower than I'd expect from car racing, still I got some pleasing images.

Steve,

You should be very, very happy with these. Great selection, and very nicely presented.

Simon.

Thanks guys. I was a bit disappointed with my sucess rate for the day with many having a slight shake effect showing up. Still I came away with some from each angle that worked so the day wasn't wasted.

Cheers,
Steve

I know what you mean matey. I wish riders would stay still and not move around so much  They are harder to shoot than tin top racing... but I think "standard" bike shots just look more interesting and exciting than "standard" car shots, if u kno what I mean :p

I think you've done well. How busy was the Saturday then? Did you venture around the GP loop?

Jets are good practice but I found the bikes more challenging to track. You're limited in time to pick up the bike's and during the corner they start to accelerate and it makes a smooth pan difficult!

Az - Thanks. It wasn't too busy and around the GP loop things were a lot quieter. I'm always happier at Brands when they run the GP loop as the angles are much more varied.
