Wouldn't that lens do the same thing like the hot mirror, that every manufacturer builds into his digital cameras?

Take a look at http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40366 on how to remove it (for IR photography)

I wonder if the hot mirrors that the manufacturers put inside are not sufficient ... only Camera I know about where this was the case, was the G1 (suffering from purple color casts)
