View Full Version : Trying out Wedding photography..

This weekend I arranged for a former bride (complete stranger to me btw) to get all dressed-up again and expected her to act like a bride-to-be in front of the camera. We were both excited about doing the shoot, & these are some of the images I ended up with.

I have another session with another model in a wedding dress next week. I expect there is probably nothing like shooting an actual wedding, but I think this is an okay way of getting ready before doing it for real. Ideas, comments appreciated!

they're nice! question though, why did you use such high isos'? also, i also saw the last shot was shot in Tv. Did you feel it would result better than Av? Just curious is all.

i like all of them.. im not fond of the edit in 3, not sure itf its the sepia tone. or whatever. but i think it could benefit from another round of edits. but like i said i like all of them. and i think you did a really great job.

I'm still in the process of learning the camera (400D) I got last month and its settings. Before doing this shoot I manually changed the TV settings to something that will make it 'comfortable' to use and let in enough exposure. I have noticed when I use the automatic portrait settings (for example) the flash doesn't always go off spontaneously, especially when there is light. Sometimes I want that though. I've ended up with many 'under-exposed' pics before.

ISO was pre-set in TV mode. (see reason above.)

I know I also have to focus more on general 'focusing' & not rely on the AF.

Thank you for your comment!

i was just curious. I know we dont learn our camera's overnight..hell, not even in the first month. It does take practice. For portraits, I think most use either Av or manual mode though. Tv would be used more for moving objects, like water or for panning. If Im wrong someone will correct me. Just trying to be of some help so you dont have many more underexposed pics ;)

I like #2 the best. In #3, her head seems misshapen because of the wide angle.

Great series. You have done very good work. I didn't like the sepia toning on the 3rd one, feels overdone.
Also I did not like the selective colouring on the 7th. Rest are all very nice.
