To quote a slack jawed Norm when a Lingerie Model was showing her portfolio to all the equally dumbstruck guys at Cheers:

"Oh, uh, they used an f-stop on that one." :o

I think saying "partial nudity" is like saying "partially dead". It is either nude or it isn't and your images had no nudity.

Good job. I love her eyes contact!

I don't like the pose of glam2 (the second photo), however. I don't see enough the curves of a female body here. Perhaps, her hand is too close to her body. Perhaps she could do turn a bit more towards you (and maybe she could show a small part of her breast). Just a suggestion.

Love the shots. Really good. I gotta say, though. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen charlesu in here yet.

thanks for the input... the last is my favorite also and hers... though she ordered one of 30 different poses she was making a whole album for him.

Well, here I go again critiquing the model. She is not attractive. Yuck. Man, I should have been a model the more I look at these model shots. I am too old now, unfortunately. Turning 40 in about a week, yuck again. It is something about her lips. The only shot where her lips look normal is in the last one.

I think your photography is excellent, however, with excellent composition and lighting.

thanks for the nice words about the photography... but she is no model..

this is a shoot done for her to make an album to give her husband for christmas. Its a very popular gift this year around here and I will be doing 5 more sessions in the next 2 weeks like this.

and she knows she istn near tall enough to model but i do think her husband wil treasure them and the trouble she went to to get him a unique gift.

HUH??? I thought she WAS a model until I read she wasn't. IMHO I get sick of seeing the opposite - bean pole looking things with weird faces. To me, this woman is absolutely beautiful.

Just my $.02

#1. Great pics! What kind of lighting are you using for that soft glow?

#2. She looks amazing. I absolutely hate those silicon/surgery laden models out there today. They all are anerexic and constantly try to keep themselves below 100 pounds. Anyone with money can look like a model by having surgery to do it.

I think you did a great job, especially for the first try. The subject is well posed in the various shots, with one exception (IMHO): She never smiles! Maybe that's the way she wants to look for hubby, but I doubt it. Subjects may be a little tense doing this, as they aren't pros. You might want to remember and try to lighten things up a bit to generate some smiles. The pouts are OK, but shouldn't be the only pose.

I'm impressed; I think that all pictures look professional.

*MOMOFAIRFORCEBRATS*

thanks for looking..

she did smile in some but she likes these better. the smiles were not what she liked for this type of photo.

ABSOLUTELY correct.

I'm always shocked at what peopel consider a "model" these days. My 9 year old son would pass for a female model by those standards - washboard chest, 90 lbs. Yep, he'd pass. How sad.

I wouldn't dare critisizing those shots, as they are very near to perfect. Except maybe for the #3, I'm not really sure I like the empty space to the left... and I don't really fancy the almost identical expression on your model's face except for the last frame.

Now I MUST get those strobes...... :?

i can't offer any techincal advice, they are very beautiful. I think some of the poses are better than others. The one where she is holding her breasts.. the right arm should be doing something other than just hanging.. the one where we see her back and she is looking over her shoulder, she is a little too hunched over... more of an arch would be nice. the one where we see her bottom of her feet.. they should be clean.. doesn't go with all the white. They are really very good... the lighting is perfect.

*MOMOFAIRFORCEBRATS*
20th of November 2004 (Sat), 15:18
thanks a lot...

i did "clean" her fett in that one before the proofing and the print will be that way... I noticed it too.

she had to keep chasing kiddos and though i mop... wood floors are hell to keep dust off of.

Simply outstanding work! I too adore the "average" housewife, if that's what you want to call this beautiful lady. Technically, you have done a great job. My fav is #6, WOW! I also like #9 & #10. I don't recall you claiming that the "model" was a "model", therefore it sounds to me like Jewel may be a little jealous. Too many people want to find something to criticize rather than something to applaud to cover up for their own insecurities. Keep up the great work, and pay no mind to those.

My thoughts exactly. I think the shots are beautiful. The pic with the bottom of her feet showing would be one of my top favorites if her feet were clean...you can probably clean them up in PS, though :D The only one I didn't care for was the one with her back...it doesnt do her figure justice and does look a bit hunched over. The rest blew me away! Great shots, I wouldn never know that you are just starting off! Keep up the good work! :D

PS In regards to her looks, I think she has a unique, sultry look that photographs well and that she is beautiful. In the real world, this is how women look and Im glad to see more and more advertisers opting for what I call "real women" rather than "lollipop heads."

Very beautiful.

I think the B&W works great.

However, if you could post one of those where she was smiling

Best regards,
Andy

Did you mainly use the 50mm/1.8 lens on these pictures? I'm thinking of buying that lens and really would like to see some photo samples with that lens. Great work by the way!

*MOMOFAIRFORCEBRATS*

i used the 50mm 1.8 on close ups only i cant back away enough in my Living room to use it for full body shots those were all taken with the KIT lense

Last shot is very good - nice eyes. Second shot, could remove the spine bones and make her back smooth. Eighth shot - very sexy. Good effort.

Hello Ann, I cant beleive I almost missed these!
These shots are done VERY tastefully. My fave in the first set is #1. And #1 again in the second set, with the shot done with the chair as a prop coming in a close second or even as a tie, however a smile like She did in the shot just prior might have improved that one.
Very nice work. :D :D :D

i have a set of 3 flood lights, yeah nasty old hot lights lol. but they work and they are all i can afford right now.

I am buying a large refelctor and a stand next year because when i get my 20D in february, I will lean a lot more natural light from a window and a reflector for fill. The hot lights will mainly become only a backup in emergencies.

I prefer natural light but find the grain that happens botehrsome and neatimage not a good enough fix but when the new camera comes that wont be a problem. the noise is almost nonexsitant i hear up to iso 800.

Ann,

Wonderful pictures.

Are you doing a soft focus effect on these in PS to get the smooth skin look? If so, care to share your methods?

Ovi

*MOMOFAIRFORCEBRATS*
14th of December 2004 (Tue), 10:01
i use a soft focus action to do the skin. i have no idea if its even possible to post it here. so i could email it to you it only owkrs in photoshop 7 or higher.

Great shots.

Very nice shots, lighting and pose is very good.
I think she is very attractive personally, as already said, its because she has such a unique look about her, well, unusual anyway. :)
