Saving EXIF data for gallery...how?

One thing that has really begun to annoy me is how Photoshop strips all JPGs of their EXIF data. When I upload my pictures to my PBase gallery I use Photoshop CS to "Save for Web..." If I don't first do this, my images are about 9MBs a piece (RAW with a 20D). For 20 or so pictures that is obviously painfully long. Does anybody know how to save the EXIF data? If Photoshop can't do it, what are some other ways I might be able to save it with out having to upload 9MB files to PBase? Thanks!

Just don't use the "Save for Web" feature, use "Save as ..." one instead.

What Olegis said. Check out my gallery (http://www.kiwirant.co.nz/gallery/Auckland/index.html) for an example, done with JAlbum (http://jalbum.net). All the exif info is there, it has customisable skins, and it's free and easy to use. My shots weren't modified, but CS preserves EXIF info i've found.

I am working with "Exifer for Windows". And it is a comfortable, effective solution for free without restrictions (for private use)! Have a look at it under

The "Exifer" does not read the exif-info directly out of the raw-file. But it does read it from the according thumb file!

To transfer the exif information to another jpg file, you just tell the program "insert from file" and the work is done! It is that easy! It is quite convenient in my opinion.

I am using "Exifer" for the exact same reason as you: I need to transfer the exif information to a raw converted jpg-file, as my database/gallery system (Pekka's "Exhibit Engine") can processes these data without any further work for me.

What has been mentioned above is correct. Save for web is a feature that compresses the image and inserts the embedded color profile but tries to reduce the file to a sizeable quality without losing too much.

If you want to keep the EXIF and ICC profiles then just do File > Save/Save As... and save it that way. EXIF data is by default, not ever touched in regular saves in CS.
