I have read a lot about the Sigma 14mm 2.8 lens so I ordered one from B&H. The saleman mentioned that the Tamron 14mm 2.8 lens was sharper.

Anyone try the Tamron? Any feedback on that lens?

Thanks.

Actually, I think the photodo.com ratings for the Tamron are lower. The salesman was probably trying to hawk you a Tamron because it costs more!

The Tamron was more money. Maybe that was it.

Anyone have any real experience with both lenses or at least both brands?

Thanks.

Hi, John !

I have no experience with 14 mm, but I can say that I'm absoultely satisfied with Tamron itself. I own 20-40F2.7-3.5

Here are some test pictures made with ISO 800 - handheld (Porter), 400 - Flash (Indian and Portret).

And I asked Tamron about details on Tamron 14

Just acquired the Sigma 14mm.

I like the f/2.8 low light advantage. This was a fairly cloudy day. 1/125, 6.7, ISO 400, a bit of sharpening and with a great deal of compression. I need to work on mastering Pekka's image manipulation formulas.

Will have more shortly....I'm headed to Alaska.
