I am a beginner in digital photography and photography generaly and i want to show you some of my shots made with a Canon Poweshot A40.

I am open to any critique, so I can improve my technique & stuff.
Thank you.

Just one more thing: how can I attach images since I don't see any button to do that and don't have a site (it will come soon :))

P.S. The site mentioned in the profile is my fathers, who is a painter.

Welcome, kork!

To embed an image, you first need to store it on a web server. Then paste the link [ img ] HERE [ /img ]. Click on Help at the top of the page for more info.

Your dad's work is very nice, by the way.

Cheers,

I really like the picture of what seems to be a park. The shapes of the shadows and the arches in line is a good shot.

Super shots for a beginner -- easy ain't it!--and you did not have to wait for an image processing shop.

But with digital, you have the time to take a half dozen shots of any particular shot. So I like the last shot, and suggest that you try a half dozen shots.. or a half dozen crops... just to get a feel for what the options hold. I suspect that a close up would be a strong option.

I like number 2 too! Look back to an earlier post reply by Don Ellis this week. Don provides a link to Kodak's guide to composition. Print that and carry it around , and back to shot 2 for reflections on the options. If your Dad is a painter, he can manipulate what his eye sees. You are a photographer and must manipulate what the lens sees. Or something profound like that!! For this 2nd shot I would have liked (like your 1st shot) to see an option where the sun is not so strong. Of course this may have reguired you to drive 10 miles, or wait, and anything might happen in the meantime to the clouds, etc. The yellow grass is beautiful, the clouds are beautiful, etc. Some punch is lost in exposure.

PS: Most of us are beginners too!

Thank you for your critique and help.

Leighow, just now i'm reading the Kodak guide for better pictures. It's quite impressive.
Thanks.
