My first real attempt at shooting my car using strobes.
Any helpful comments welcome!

If it is as dark as it looks. Id let the shutter drag so the background starts to show. Does not have tobe much, just some detail should be seen I think. Other than that I like the shot.

Not an easy task. I agree that a longer shutter would help. The shot feels a little unbalanced with the darkness. It's also a little 'hot' on the front bumper.

OK, thanks for the input. I'll try a longer shutter next time...I just have to find another tri-pod for the camera since I used all that I had to hold the flash. Or I'll just have to find some friends to hold the flash instead. :D

Yeah, I had some difficulty getting even flash coverage. I'll watch for hot spots more closely next time.

lol, I wish I could speak in photog terms like those guys, but I agree.

It seems as though the drivers side is missing some lighting, and the passenger side front bumper really stands out as opposed to the rest of the picture. Great angle, crop and background lighting in my opinon. The background has the right lighting its only the space in between the gets me.

Did you PS out the flashes?

Only one flash made it into this particular shot and it was PS'd out.

Yes, 3. 540EZ camera left, 580EX II camera right, Vivitar 283 behind car.

I've had an account on on M3F for several years but don't frequent it much...I'm more on the local Mazda forums (www.torontomazda3.ca (http://www.torontomazda3.ca)).

Another thought. Shift the frame so the car is more to the left and you can see more of the rail car. I just hate blank spots in images like this. To me it looks like you took the brush in PP and wiped it all out to hide something. I'm sure you did not do that. But that is usually my first thought when I see so much void.
