That's just gossip. So I am going to add my 2 cents: I do think Canon will come out with a replacement to the 1Dmk3. The camera has had too much bad press. I do not think we will see any new 1D series until early in 2009. I would bet that the rumors that Canon is planning to change the name will come true. (ie 1Dfx or 1Dx).

I've long suspected Canon would drop the two separate cameras as they currently stand. I imagine if they could offer a full frame camera in the high teens (megapixels) with high framerate it would be a compelling offering but at the same time I doubt they'd drop something like the 1Ds just to keep the high res option out there.
