Hello people
I wanted to post this image up to get your take on it.
This wedding took place in Kent UK last month and I have had good and bad said about it.
I just wanted to know what you felt was right or wrong about this photo.
Thanks in advance,
David

Taken with a Canon 5D with a EOS 16-35mm L.
Some PS work has also been applied

decent.....what about cropping the photo to remove the guy on the left at the table---he is a little distracting to me.

Levels are off; black point is way too high as all shadows are featureless. The groom has almost no detail at all below his neck. It is a nice moment.. but the wide angle has also stretched out the man's head on the left. He is likely important but could be cropped out for a better image. In general it is too contrasty and not everyone goes for the tilt.

I agree with Scott about a crop to eliminate the guy on the left mostly. I've added a rough vignette as the bright light from the windows take attention away from the couple.
The main flaw really is that it's quite busy and has a tad too much depth of field. Tilt is good as it suggests movement, has a positive energy about it - It's a good photo really!

cheers

Thanks for the replies.
First of all I know its a little dark in places but that was partly due the actions I used to single out the couple more. They were the key persons and I wanted to take out the others a little by darkening down.
The man and woman are the Brides parents.
The tilted angle was ment to give it impact but also I wanted to get the full interior of the train in shot.

I am a great fan of the "Lomo" action that really ages photos and I wanted to try and achieve an old world look like you see in movies where the train is moving with a bit of blurry interior lighting. I cant describe it but I was trying to achieve a certain look and I was happy with the results.

i like it :) the dark areas work in images like this, don't worry about it.

I like it too. I think your levels adjustments work well here. It could do with some cropping though, with roughly equal amounts off the top, left and right.

I think you see what I was trying to acheive

Hi David. I like the shot a lot and appreciate the explanation behind what you were trying to accomplish with it. I would suggest that the tilt is a little extreme, but that just personal opinion. Your creativity is envied :)

I love the photo, it has alot of impact! I am not one that believes proper levels and such should always apply to weddings, but that is just my opinion.

I too really like this image & don't mind the dark areas, I think it helps to focus on the couple which I think was your original intention wasn't it? The point is whether you like it & more importantly whether your clients do, everyone has their own style of photography so really it's all down to personal preference on whether you like it or not.... personally I do. Thanks for sharing.

I really like the photo and love the PP. This may or may not count for anything but if was doing the PP I probably go for slightly less of an angle on the rotation, but great photo.

I like it too. But I do tend to favor Damian's crop. It's a nice, happy pic. Well done.

I'm not a fan of tilt uless there is some sort of message....what is the prupose of the tilt in this photo. Tilt per se does not lend impact to photos IMHO. The crop is much bettr than the original. The guy on the left was distorted.
