Where can I find the browser detection to let Firefox use the javascript image browsing.

I don't understand the question. If you have "Enable Javascript" on in Firefox Tools/Options dialog then EE will use JS in some browsing functions.

I have been using Firefox for about 5 days now and no problems acessing EE!??

Make sure you have set misc setting: "When image file is not found" to 3. Use EE's substitute error image for main photos only (normal performance), because EE needs that setting (or setting 2) for multiarea to work. Multiarea navigation is coded with image map which is standard html code and will work on every browser regardless of Javascript.
Area ALT texts do not show on Firefox, don't know yet why. It is a REQUIRED notation (see http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/objects.html#h-13.6 ) so maybe Firefox has a bug there.
I have set multiarea navigation on in my gallery, try it in http://photography-on-the.net/gallery/photo.php?photo=210&u=2700|4

You are correct. I forgot that I turned off the substitute feature. Thanks Pekka.
