20D battery question

Just purchased 20D!! I know the 20d battery has improved capacity but we have quite a few batterys left from our D60- 10D days. Must we buy all new batterys or will our old bp 511's work with no loss of function in the 20D

They will work perfectly in your new 20D; the BP511 and BP511A are fully interchangeable. The only difference is that the BP511A holds more charge so will last longer before needing recharged.

myself and someone else have both had issues with generic batteries not charging on the 20D's supplied charger

BP511s (not the 511A) will prematurely show "low battery" when used with the 20D's grip. Makes no difference whether there's one or two of them in it. Pop them back into the camera and they show full charge.
