I read that the new ixus v3 camera comes with the zoombrowser ex 4.0 which looks much nicer - any idea how we update?

If you wait awhile, then the driver CDs will be updated with the new programs. You can then probably purchase a replacement CD for a nominal cost. I did that with my ATI video card, but I'm not entirely sure that Canon works the same way.

I don't see a reason why canon won't release an update patch for its loyal customers

It's not an update. It's a new release, same as any other software product. So, they'll have different licensing for the new version.

Everybody knows that 3.0 sux so I don't see any reason why they won't give the 4.0 as a bonus for customers who bought the 3.0 .

I agree. If software has bugs in it then the manufacturer should provide free updates. Canon are not in the software business trying to make money from software. They are in the digital camera business. They need to remember that distinction.

Keep the camera owners happy and they will become more loyal. They will be more likely to buy new models from Canon if the after service is really good rather than switch to another manufacturer.

When they make a quantum change in the underlying technology then I feel it is fair to let them off the hook.

I don't know about version 4.0 but Canon have an upgrade to version 3.2.1 on their website. It says it is for anyone with versions 2.0 - 3.1. Here's the link...

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but what's the difference between the Single File version and the Multiple File version?
I have version 3.1 but would like to upgrade if there's an improvement to be gained.
PS I've only had my camera a month, and am learning slowly!

I haven't downloaded either but based on the file sizes I would say that the Single File version is an amalgamation of the 10 files that make up the Multi-File version, probably in a self-extracting zip file format. So its an either/or situation. I reckon they did it because for people with unreliable connections trying to take down a 16Mb file can be very frustrating.

There is a new Zoombrowser around. It is also bundled with the new S45.

I have just purchased an S45 and am having annoying problems with the supplied ZB 4.0. Initial installation is fine and everything works OK until the camera is disconnected from the USB port. After reconnecting ZB gives the message 'Camera not found', the device shows as 'Unavailable' and the Device Manager shows the message ' Your registry may be corrupted (code19)'.
It is necessary to uninstall the S45, reboot, and then reinstall the driver before it will work again.
I am using on an IBM A20 Thinkpad with Windows 2K Pro FP 3 and the latest BIOS from IBM. The Canon documentation states that one should be running under a 'pre-installed' version of the operating system but that seems ridiculous to me; just putting on a Fixpack cancels that one out.
Would be most grateful for any suggestions. I have not contacted Canon (Aust.) yet but certainly intend to after the weekend!!!!

I tried the above link and downloaded zoombrowser 4.0 and with minimal problems installed it. I had to install photorecord separetly for it to work.

Is there a link anywhere to get the photo stitch feature of ZoomBrowser. I noticed that there is a selection to do that operation in the menus for Zoombrowser. I am trying to reinstall my camera software on my computer and cannot locate my camera's installation CD. I have the drivers and zoombrowser programs downloaded and working. I just need Photostitch
