I had some pretty obvious difficulty with exposure on a couple, but I didn't think it was enough to toss the pix. I was trying to get shots with no people in them so I was limited in angles and such. Your opinions welcome......thanks.

the exposure looks to be difficult here, hence I think this is a perfect case for using two images with different exposures, blended together into one image.
ie one picture exposed for the sky to bring out some of the detail which is lost in your pics, and the other shot to expose for the plane on longer shutter or more open aperture.
then later in photoshop you can put the two together (need to use tripod to ensure two identical images)

I just see it as extending the dynamic range of your camera.

PS i like the images a lot, but it would be great to see the sky exposed correctly!
