zoom 3.0x prob powershot a40

hi friends,

I would like to post this problem of my canon powershot a40. my problem is that whenever i adjust the zoom 3x the captured picture is totaly black as in no picture capture. Even if I used the ac adapter or new batteries or even when I capture using remote capture of my pc. I cannot adjust the image closer, because whenever I do that no image will be captured. The camera is ok in the far setting, and also moment after power On. This problem will occur a few minutes after the camera is ON. but in the remote capture using ac adaptor I can no loger adjust to 3x zoom. PLease help me.....

I'm assuming that:
1) by 3x Zoom, you mean Telephoto setting.
2) by "far setting" you mean Wide Angle.

Is this happening with digital zoom or optical zoom?
Does the LCD show an image before you take the picture?
Have you tried changing CF cards?
Does this happen in all (Green square, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Tv, P, Av, etc.) modes?
Can you take pictures at any zoom settings (from full wide to full telephoto) that work? What's the longest (ZoomBrowser and Properties will bring up the EXIF information for the picture; in that is the length the lens was at when the picture was taken) zoom setting at which you get a picture? And what exposure settings (also in the EXIF data) were used for both good and bad pictures?

Just working from what you've said, it sounds like the camera suffered some kind of impact damage affecting the lens.
