This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 800 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read (Before and After # 46).

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This game will end on Wednesday, April 12th at 9pm (PST).

Boise Idaho from the Depot.

I tried to make this look like a painting. A triptych, obviously.

Cropped.
Cloned out some lightpoles in the front.
Upped the contrast.
Added huge noise reduction to give it the soft look - everywhere but the capitol building.
Added a canvas texture - lowered the opacity of that layer way down.
Split it into three...just by increasing the canvas size then cutting and moving the sides out.
Added the "artist's signature" to the middle panel.

Ok I'll see if I can remember...
- took out the cars and such using my clone tool
- smugged the hard edges from the cloning
- color boosted really high
- blurred the dark areas only
- cropped with a maintained ratio of 6x4
- added another layer and put a frame on that
- readjusted the image to fit the frame
- really darkened the original wood color of the frame and upped the contrast really high
- I think that's it.

OK, 2 of these really stood out for me.

SilverHCIC & BitterSweet.
While I think that I like Silver's crop better, I think that Bitter did a better job of capturing exactly what it really looked like that day. So I have to award the winner to BitterSweet! Great job.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Suzy B gets some serious points for splitting the image like that. I just wasn't too big on the painting thing, but I thought that the way you split it was really cool. I am goign to have to try that some time with a good photo when I frame it for the wall. Thanks for all the submissions everyone and good luck in future contests!

Also, I loved SQuiP's edit. I was fascinated by the image and kept staring at it. Nice job to all!!
