hey all...about to go to thailand for a month. i don't want to take my laptop, nor do i want to take a lot of CF cards for my digital Rebel. Is there such a reader that may upload the photos from the CF to my firewire/usb2 pocket drive? i have an 80GB pocket external hard drive. I have seen people do such a thing with an ipod, but can it be done on something that is just for storage, without a computer interface?
thanks all

There are many avaialble, different costs, different card types, different features, some have colour LCD's, some play MP3's etc.
I have a X'S Drive II, basically a battery powered USB laptop drive with a 7 in 1 card reader built in.
It does the trick, however it is slow and does not verify the images that are copied or allow me to view the directories on it.
A good place to start is here:

Go to the portable storage section.
If you find something that you like, post it here, and someone is bound to have used one and will let youy know what they think of it!

IIRC Lexar (or maybe Delkin) has a gadget that'll play host to two USB devices, allowing you to transfer files between them.
