because i am at the begining, can i have some tips shooting sport. Like, for instance, i have problems using autofocus. Tho i stay all the time with my finger half way on the button, is the best way of using autofocus? probably using manual focus, i will loose most of the match, because is way to slow.
I do shot on TV, somewhere 1/800-1000, and letting him to decide what apperture to use. Is that ok using this?
Also, shall i use all 9 point focus or just one?

PS: As equipment, i ude a canon 40d, with a canon lens 70-300 f4-5,6 III usm.
i want to buy the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM. is it worth it? only for sport i want to buy it.

thanks guys

You should try to shoot in 'Av' mode and set your ISO high enough to give you a fast shutter speed. Otherwise you lose a narrow depth of field and your images don't stand out far enough.

Most people tend to use just the centre AF point, so I believe.

The 70-200mm f2.8l IS is a simply superb lens, and for the money, you won't find a better 'sports' lens. In my opinion.

Good luck!! :)

I agree with danaitch.

Nice shots overall, but the selective color just doesn't look good.

It's a good start, Have you tried back button focus this works great for me, open you lens as wide as it goes, i shoot with the canon 300F2.8 and nearly always shoot at F2.8 on manual don't let the shutter drop below 1/640 but starting out use AV hope this helps
Some of my shots here, these are rugby league but i shoot Union as well

Hi Mircius,

I think what gsgary is saying for the back button is to go into your custom settings and swap the AE lock button with the AF Lock button.

So if you half depress the shutter release, it becomes the AE Lock.

I like to use the swap version. It helps me keep the FOcus in lock and also, doesn't spoil my shutter release button. Changed it once already.

Hope it helps

Cheers.
