very interesting fact about the Horse Chestnut. seems like a good place to find some bugs hanging out...lol - seems like a sticky situation.

I get the same thing with some of my rhododendrons :)- come to think of it we used to call them sticky buds as kids (horse chestnuts that is)

well I remembered this advice and checked a Chestnut that hadn't opened its leaves yet (most had) and found this poor moth (looked like a fly to the naked eye):
