After a very brief look, I'd say you need to shoot wider apertures as your DOF is a bit too detailed. IMHO.

well i was shooting with a flash in every picture so i was stuck at shutter speed 250 and i had to compensate with the aperature. if u have any ideas for me i would love to try them out tho because i deffinatly agreey with you. I like them. It was a good solid try I think.

Why were you "stuck" at 250 ?
not familiar with sunpak but i would imagine it has a variable power output..

I am just a hobbyist but i would start by going into Av mode in your camera then opening the aperature... try a test exposure without a flash( i am not familiar with a 30d but Av mode may fire your flash). however if it doesnot then take those settings as a baseline and put your camera in manual mode. then use your flash as a fill and adjust power as needed. dont forget you can also gain or drop stops by changing your ISO aswell. your histogram would be helpful here !!

just my 2 cents .... great action photos awesome timing... I was in west palm recently and enjoyed watching some of the other scenery to be found on the beach !!!

All this talk of 'aperature' makes me thirsty because I keep thinking of an 'aperitif'!

I'd 'ditto' the above comments for trying 'fill-in' flash to assist with shooting wide-open. Sounds daft too, but without checking your EXIF, would you have been able to shoot at a lower ISO? Sorry to sound patronising but for ages I used to shoot at 400 all the time because I was told it was a good 'all-round' ISO to use. Once I fully got the hang of the full exposure relationship it made things a LOT easier.

I'm a slow learner, ok?!

well my iso was set at 100, and my flash was only on 1/8 or so. but the highest sync speed for the flash is 250.
