Before I begin, I'm using a Mac, a 40D, and a Sandisk 4GB Extreme 2.

Well, I got done shooting my colleges graduation and all of those events, and I come back to the office to download my shots of the day. And this is where the problems ensue...

I go to the computer I worked on the night before, where I successfully downloaded the nights pictures. When I was leaving, I guess I forgot to eject the card off the desktop (USING A MAC)

I get on the computer I was on, plug my card into a card reader, and start to download images, when I realize somethings not right, there are about 100~ less pictures than I took.

I cancel the download, and figure out somehow the computer is reading my card as the images from the night previous, when just moments ago I saw my days work on the camera review screen.

Now, whenever I plug it into a card reader, it sees the previous days images. When I try to review the images on my camera, I see the 1st picture I took today, and then 153 images that are corrupted (the # from the previous day was 154, today was over 250).

When I look at reformatting the card, it shows I have 2.76GB of pictures.

154 pictures is only 1.8GB, so i have an additional gig of pictures thats not showing up on the camera, on imagecapture, or on rescue pro.

What can I do? These are important pictures and I need to get them back

Take a look at this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=393425). There are numerous recovery software packages mentioned that work well. Also go to Sandisks website. I believe they have a download specific for their cards.

Glad it worked. I suggest only formating the card in the camera, too.
