My Canon 70-200 f4 too a dive from my camerabag into the road today. I can see no damage to it, but the autofocus is no longer working. Does anybody has any experince on what to do in a sitution like this. Could it be wortwhile to try and repair it?

best way to find out is to take it to a canon service center and get an estimate. (IMO)

let canon do an estimate for you.

maybe it's just the focusing motor that's broken!

I know that I can't compare my 50mm 1.4 to a 70-200 but when I damaged mine and it stopped focusing, I took it in and it ended up being a cam and costed be $130 to replace... Well worth it for that lens...

I'll echo what the others have said. You've got a judgement call to make about whether it is more economic to repair or replace that lens. Without knowing the repair costs you can't make that call so get an estimate.

Hi
Mys experience is that if you let Canon repair it it will be retunred in perfect working order.
