For about 3 years I took astronomical pictures by simply hooking up my G2 to the eyepiece of my astronomical telescope. Since I was limited to a maximum of only 15 seconds exposure I couldn't get a lot of the dimmer nebula and galaxies, but I could get night scenes, aurora, all the planets, the moon and sun. It was a very simple and fun thing to do.
Lately I've been using the Digital Rebel which can take exposures up to 5 to 10 minutes. That puts many galaxies and nebula within reach, like the horse head and Flame nebulas. Or our own galactic neighbors, Andromeda and Triangulum. But long exposure photography is a much more involved hobby, but worth it.
Many people have done better with the Canon cameras, but I've done okay. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Feel free to copy them or use them to your hearts content. Maybe it'll inspire you to get interested in this great hobby yourself!
