I need a non-slip surface that can be applied to my S50 in areas where the fingers touch. This camera is great and easily carried but its surface is slicker than snot on a doorknob and for those of us with limited dexterity makes it hard to handle and prone to dropping. I was thinking maybe some skateboard grip stuff but why cant you get the rubber material that comes on many cameras already? I'm sure other models could benefit also.

Have you thought of tennis racket grip tape? Comes in rubber and towelling.... certainly a better option than skateboard grip tape :)

I use the blue double-sided tape that is used for attaching papers/notes to refrigerators, bulletin boards, etc. I don't recall the brand name, but it's only slightly sticky and easy to remove. It's about 1.5 inches wide but can be cut to any shape. I replace it every 3-4 months as it will lose its grip after a while.
PS. Gaffer tape also works very well. Available in most large camera shops.

I use female velcro. Nice and fuzzy.
