I have been searching the forum and reading around. I have yet to really see a topic that is soley about flashes. I am really speaking in terms of Hot shoe flashes that offer good portability. (I do know about the Bee's set up flash and strobes) .

I notice that a lot of members will refer to the 420, 550 or 580 ex flashes. I know these are Canon flashes, and I am almost 100% sure these aren't the only flashes that are compatible with the Reb, 10D,20D, and 1s etc. ..

So what other flashes have people had good results with, in portrait situations and/or sports situations?
Even comparisons to aftermarket brands to Canon brands.

Thanks
mr.P

I have two Sigma 500 Super DG's and use them with 10D, 20D, 300D and until recently, G2.

Good units, wireless functions are wonderful. For me (no offence to all the Canon purists out there, settle down!) they are good value.

YMMV,

Bruce

I have the Sigma also and the new 580ex, but I really believe the best all around flashes are from Metz. Unfortunately the necessary adapter is not yet released for the Canon 20D to the Metz. When that comes out (supposedly by end of this year) it will be hard to beat.

Have you looked at the EOS Flash Sticky above?
