Would welcome any views on whether it's worth paying to buy Elements since I already got the Limited Edition thrown in with the D60. I'm new to all this so I wondered in particular if Elements is a bit more user friendly ?

Thanks in advance

Well, I´ve got both, in different bundles, and I vastly prefer LE (I´ve even uninstalled Elements again). Reasons:
1) LE has Curves. VERY useful!
2) LE supports 16 bits/channel. Important for scanning.
3) The "User-friendliness" of Elements clutters up the screen, without being any real help after a short period of use. "Goodies" like red-eye reduction make a rather lousy job compared to manual quick-mask+desaturate.

Sure there are good things in Elements that LE doesn´t have, but you can easily work around them: Elements has multiple undo (save often, and you don´t need it). Elements has adjustment layers (duplicate layers w/layer mask and transparency adjustment can do about the same job).

Many thanks for that. I'll keep my money in my pocket then I think. It would be useful to download a trial version of Elements of course but I haven't seen where that would be possible.

PS Elements can be downloaded from Adobe web site (http://www.adobe.com) . Look for the "Tryouts" or "Downloads" options on the menu bars. Note that it's 111Mb and you will need to register (free). I think the trial period is 30 days. I don't like Elements either!

Belated thanks for that (been away) but no way can the ISP I use at 50kbs stay on line long enough to download a file that size !
