I have just purchased PSE6 and not it has RAW capabilities i also note that most shooters in this forum have Photoshop but sill use Lightroom or DPP....
What would be the main reasons for this ???

I use lightroom. It is more streamlined for large volume RAW conversion than PSCS2. I have not used DPP for a while though. I still use PS for other stuff post RAW conversion.

I use Adobe Camera Raw/Photoshop and Lightroom about equally. There's really no difference between ACR and Lightroom. The only two significant differences I can think of are:
(1) the Targeted Adjustment Tool or TAT in Lightroom is not in Adobe Camera Raw. Not a big deal for me though since I prefer the "old school" approach of using Curves in Photoshop.
(2) Lightroom's ability to catalog images stored off-line. Adobe Bridge is equally good at keywording, searching across directories/folders, etc. Its only weak point is that iit can only access images stored on an active physical drive. Since Lightroom creates Previews of the actual images, its possible to edit the Previews while the actual images are stored off-line and later sync the edits to the image. This can't be done with Adobe Bridge.
Otherwise, there are no real distinctions between the two products except that Lightroom is MARKETED as a tool for high-volume RAW photographers while Photoshop has its roots in Graphic Arts and it shows.

Of course PSE6 has raw capabilities. Open a raw file from the organizer into full edit and ACR will come up first to edit the raw.
If you just purchased PSE6 make sure you get all of the updates.

I have LR and PSE6. I use LR for organizing and initial processing of all my photos. Most of the time that is it. I use PSE6 on very few photos when I need to work on only one part or do some special effects.

Download the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) update here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
It is the latest version and supports your camera

I think the initial poster just left of the "e"... should have been "note" instead of "not".
As to why others prefer different: LR is much more powerful than Elements implementaiton of ACR... even nicer to use for batch editing, organizing, and culling of photographs than ACR in full photoshop.
Also, some prefer the default rendering in DPP over ACR (I know for me, ACR shifts the colors, requiring a long, tedious, process to correct.)

Because different tools do different things, and no tool does everthing everyone wants it to do.
I use LR, Picasa II, DPP, PSE5. At work in a non-photographic role I've used Fireworks.
I'm more of a photographer than an graphic artist, and never really took to the PhotoShop way of things. Many have and with awesome results, but it aint my bag.
