Today I went to Best Buy and purchased the 430EX. Anyway, my BB matches the prices that B&H has. So I got it for $250 instead of $300. Well I payed for it and then the cashier hands me this bag that was tied in a knot. I opened it and realized that they had taken the flash and wrapped it up in a bag and gave it to me!!http://www.dcresource.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif I'm was really upset about it because I live in Chicago and I have to take public transportation. I didn't want anything happening to it. Well I asked the chick if I could have the box and the manual with it and she said, "Oh thats the last one. It was the one out of the case and we don't have to box or manual anymore." I was like wth!! I really needed the manual. I'm not a genius when it comes to these flashes. She said I could d/l the manual on the site, but I can't take the site with me when I'm out shooting.

Anyway, some people might think I'm upset over nothing, but I seriously needed that manual. Lol. Are these flashes suppose to come with any type of covering or case?? I have to some how find a case for it because I don't like it being exposed.http://www.dcresource.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Sorry for my rant. I'm just upset.http://www.dcresource.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

Oh and to make things worse, I didn't get a warranty card. GRRRR!!

I had already paid for it when I realized it. The weird thing is they actually brought it from the stock room. She just said it was the one of of the case. She also said it was never handled or used. If I try to return it, I doubt I'll have much luck. Those ppl at that BB are b****es!!

i would demand a refund on it as they did not tell you...if the store does not honor a refund, I would call Best Buy's management and complain and make sure they give you a refund:D

You have a 30-day instore return policy if i'm correct . But i would do it soon as possible so that it would be fresh on your mind .

You didn't have to walk out of the store with it. You could have demanded a refund before leaving the store. Take it back. They didn't even sell you a new one, it was the demo.

Having a GF that used to work there, you'd be suprized at the s**t they put up with on a regular basis. I hardly expect teeagers/young adults to give me grade A service in a retail store when they're paid little over minimum wage.

That being said though, they should have told you that it was the floor model and given you the option to decline the purchase. If you're really worried about it take it back and get it from here used (as mentioned above) or buy it from B&H if it's the same price. You can think of the extra $$ being spent on shipping as going to actually having a hard coppy of the manual, and the soft carrying pouch.

My Worst buys always came from BB.
No wonder I boycott them fully several years back.
Happy Ending... :b

So I just got off the phone with the 1800 number on BB's site. Thank god for 24/7 customer service!!! I talked to them about it and they said that the store I purchased it from was suppose to be getting new ones on Tuesday. The guy told me to just bring it back and exchange it for a new one with the accessories. I asked about the 10% thing, but he said that since they already lowered it to match B&H, I wouldn't get the 10%. Thats if I decided to keep the flash, which I'm not.

I'm still mad that they didn't tell me till after I paid.

My main concern was the warranty card. Hopefully, Tuesday I'll get everything I'm suppose to.

Ran a Google search and here's a PDF-format manual for the 430ex. (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Owners-Manuals/Canon-Speedlite-430ex-Flash-Manual.pdf)

What you experienced at Best Buy worked in my favor. I needed a notebook PC in short order and was going to get a Toshiba on sale for $400. Then I looked again and there was a $650 dual-core Gateway on sale for $500. I asked a salesman and he said I might not want it because it was a display unit that had a scuffed case, but if I did want it, he'd have to take another $50 off the price. It was an easy decision to buy the Gateway. :)

Thanks so much!! I should have stopped buying from BB when I got my HP laptop. I had such a hard time getting that thing. I paid for it and they were out so I was suppose to pick it up a few days later. It took me almost a month just to get the dang thing.

why would you have purchased it knowing it was in some random bag. You had to have known before leaving the store. Best Buy would have taken it back. There are many ways to take advantage of best buy and if you know them, you can screw them.

Unless you wanted to come here and rant about it. :)

Which Best Buy is this that price-matches to B&H? I live about 6 blocks within two of them.

Buy on the web. I bought mine on Amazon. Their sources will process refunds, better yet, they come in a box and with a manual :-)

For shame, in Chicago and didn't support a brick and mortar like calumet or central camera! Just kidding, I hate big box stores and avoid them whenever I can.

The one on Clark St. will match any camera store price as long as its in Chicago. Which means they match Ritz and Wolf Camera, B&H, Circuit City and theres probably some other stores. As long as its a type of main stream store, they'll match it.

You also got hosed out of the stand and soft case. Those two items are probably anywhere from $25-50 knowing how those things are priced.

You are right for going back and getting a new one. The flash itself is probably fine and you shouldn't have much of a problem with warranty, but you paid for everything, not just the flash.

Yea thats what I don't understand. They will match the B&H catalog, but NOT the website. Then they say it has to be an actual store. It probably all depends on the employee also.
