View Full Version : Adaptor between the tripod and Canon 70-200's len's mount

I need a adaptor or spacer to put in between the tripod's quick release and the len'c mount, to raise the Canon len's mount about 1" higher than the tripod's quick release mount. Because the lower part of the 1D Mark II is on the way blocking the quick release's switch.
Anyone can help, I knew Canon has one, but can't remember the model number.

I read somewhere about a quick fix by mounting the quick release plate backwards so the QR lever is facing toward the front of the camera.

The QR switch is blocked by the lower battery part of the Mark II.

Is there some way to reverse the head where the plate mounts to? I have a grip for my Bogen that mounts backwards compared to the others and that's the problem it has.

Try the plate backwards, that's what I did with my 10D and grip

You know, I noticed this same problem on my 20D with Grip when using the 100-400... it's easily solved IMO. Just quickly losen the lens mount ring, spin the camera 90 degrees or 180 while the lens and tripod / monopod stays stationary, and it'll give you the clearance you need to unhook the tripod quick detach.
I love being able to spin my camera / lens in the lens mount for portraint / landscape images, and this is one more 'perk'

This has troubled me as well. I got the grip for the 20D last week and ran into it with the 70-200 f4L. That is not so bad, since you can still use the camera's tripod mount with that combo, even though it is not balanced well. But I had a 400 f5.6L on order, and I was concerned about it. The 400 came in, and I found that the 400 has the tripod ring far enough forward that it is not a problem. But I did ask the salesman at my local camera store to look into it with Manfrotto. I'd like to have a solution, as I don't want to reverse all of my QR plates to have the release trigger in the front unless I have to.
Have Fun,

Can anyone help to find it?

I have try a lot different way, as you mentioned at above replies. But all not working.
I remember that Canon has this kind of adapter for its TS lens. But can't remember the parts number.
