Quick Neck Strap Disconnect

I have an Upstrap and wish there was way to disconnect this strap quickly when I don't want to use it and reconnect it easily.

Are there any good disconnects out there that will quickly disconnect from the camera strap mounts but still allow me to use this great strap when I need it?

I do have the quick disconnects but the issue is that on both side of the camera there is still 6 to 8 inches of strap hanging in the way, I tried to shorten these but to no avail.

I see some metal clips not sure what damage they would cause to the side of the camera.

What would be ideal is a strong small loop that would not get in your way if you didn't want to use the Upstrap .

Maybe I am looking for something that doesn't exist.
