Hi guys, I just bought a Canon 40D the other day and a Canon 430EX Speedlite yesterday. Is there a cheap way for me to remotely use the flash, preferably wireless? Thanks

How much do you want to spend is the big question

The cheap way is wired with a synch cord.

Not much as in $50? $150? $250? less than $50?
Not much means completely different things to different people.
You may want to check out www.strobist.com , it is all about using flashes remotely and for little cash.

I'll check it out. Thanks. What about a setup like with some point and shoots that do not support a hotshoe where the other flash "watches" for the camera's onboard flash, I've can be done very cheaply?

what kind of sink cord do i need to connect a nikon SD-28 to my 30D. i am looking on B&H right now but can't figure out what to get. most say: 15' straight sync extension cable designed to increase the length of an existing PC (post connection) sync cord.
does that mean that there is another cord i need to get and this one just makes it 15' longer?

I have the same setup and purchased a HS adaptor and 16 ft cord. Total came to $26. [pretty cost effective if you ask me].
Part (item) numbers were 0036 & 0065 from flash zebra.
Beauty of the above is one end of the cord has the screw lock terminal - which helps reduce the # of issues with troublesome PC connectors.

P.s. The 40D doesn't allow manual mode on the flash, so it will emit pre-flash which makes finding an optical slave that is compatible with the 430ex difficult (at least in my searchs) - hence why I went with a wired version to remotely trigger the flash.
