Love this printer from a color printing perspective. Am now trying to output some B&W prints and wondering if any i9900 users have any advice for getting the best out this printer with B&W? I have tried using monochrome printing to reduce color casts but the prints still don't look to be toned correctly. Obviously, the printer is only using the black cartridge. Should I be looking to a dedicated B&W printer using a black and grey cartridge aka some HP printers? Appreciate any advice from those producing high quality B&W prints.

Many thanks as always....

What paper are you using? I have been getting good B&W prints from the i9900 on Epson Enhanced Matte by simply selecting grayscale in the printer properties dialog. I'm sure there's a better way but I'm always looking for the easiest way that gets the job done.

For me it depends on the paper, but I found with the s9000 that I had to color the B+W print if I printed to Kodak paper, but not to Epson matte paper to get it to come out corrently.
So far the i9900 seems to produce better B+W on Kodak Ultima paper almost perfect, but now my Epson has a slight green cast to it so would need to adjust color for Epson paper. I suspect the color profile in the computer/printer is slightly different between the two.

So if you are getting a color cast to the B+W prints, just add/subtract color to correct for the paper/ink combo.

I would be tweaking my i9900 to match my s9000, but since I like using Kodak Ultima and ilford classic pearl paper and since it is set correctly, I am leaving it alone.

Lastly, I found orginally I had to add 4 points of red and 12 of yellow in photoshop to get it to look correct on my s9000 using Kodak Paper.
