This is a lower resolution shot with my first digital camera ( I have since upgraded to a Canon 10D) It's still one of my alltime favorite shots, but I would like critical review from those with more experience than myself.
Thanks,
Duke...
Sorry the earlier version of this topic didn't have the proper url listed. I just didn't do it right. I think this one will work okay, hope you visit it .

The picture seems OK, but you have a couple of problems with subject. First, there is nowhere on this flower that is sharp. I do not know if the flower itself is sort of smudgey in real life (which I think it is.) or if the shot is actually out of focus (which might be the case too.) So there is nothing that the viewer can latch onto that says "OK, HERE is where you look, and that blurry thing there is behind me." It is all blurry - or soft - cant tell which.
The second problem is the blue edges. Do those flowers REALLY have blue edges, or is this really nasty Chromatic Aberrations? Cant tell.
So the problems with your choice of subjet is that, by it's very nature, it looks like it is out of focus shot with a really crappy lens. Or perhaps it actually IS out of focus shot with a really crappy lens.
After about 5 seconds of wondering, I start to not care and go onto other things. Choose a subject easier to look at.
Also, the page took FOREVER to load. All the adverts, etc. Find a space-server that will let you link directly to your shot without all the other junk. The service I use is OK, http://files.villagephotos.com/index.asp price is about $30 for 6 months or so, and they have a 100 meg daily transfer limit, which sucks, but at least I can link directly without having to send my viewer to a mammoth website. Look into it, or find something similar.
