This is one of the first photos i had taken after getting my camera, which dates this photo to around october last year.
Helpful feedback is appreciated.

I like the way you frame the shot, but Ithink the tree takes attention away from the subject, iŽd crop it. Also seems a little underexpouse...

crop it down.... like mentioned ... the background does nothing for the image. I like the idea, the background just takes too much away from the image.

I think the flower itself is past its prime.

I was out shooting flowers yesterday (what else do I do?), and there were many others doing the same thing (Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC).
What I noticed is that none of them were getting close enough; they were capturing the flowers, the grass, the sidewalk, the trees, the buildings, etc. When they get home at look at their pictures, they'll wonder why the flowers don't stand out.
Get closer - much closer.

thanks for the feedback, now that i look at it in the new light, that tree is very distracting!
and if i got closer to the flower, then i would of taken away the overall composition and the angle i have here... but next time i will try both close and distant :)
