My town has a photo contest every year and one of the catagories is pictures of the town. Last year there were one to two dozen entries in the portrait, landscape and other catagories, but there were only two of the town, and neither were mine. I'm told it's usually that way. It seems that people find it easier to find people or landscape subjects than the town.
So this year I thought I'd enter one in the town catagory. I'm looking at it as a self assignment (and it cuts down on the competition).
Anyway, there is this old gas station that's been closed for as long as I've been here. It's in the center of town so everybody knows of it. Today I had some time to kill while the van was in the shop and I thought I'd work the sign a bit. What always struck me about the sign was the message and knowing that the station's been closed for over 10 years.
This is photoshopped a bit:

I thought I'd try later this winter and try to get the sign covered in snow. I'd love to get the sign with the station out of focus in the background, but I'd have to stand in the middle of the street on a tall ladder. Not do-able.
I'd be interested in any feedback.
