I am contemplating this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3853138583&ssPage Name=STRK:MEWA:IT

given that Canon want $450 for their version. Anyone have any thoughts on that one?

You might want to check on that Chinese product and see if it has the proper EU compliance certifications. Specifically, RF emissions. I don't know what it is called in the UK, but in the USA, it is called "FCC compliance, Type A or Type B."

It would be awkward if you used the transmitter and twenty feet away it crashed a computer.

I looked at this also when I was looking for a remote for my 10D. I decided to go with the much cheaper wired remote. However, I bought the wired remote from Ebay. It is a third party version of Canon's remote and is made by Adidt, the same maker of the remote you are looking at. So far the remote works great. It feels a little lighter and cheaper than the Canon version, but it works for now until I look in to a wireless. I can't really speak on the FCC regulations, etc. that were mentioned above, but everything seems fine and "legit" to me.

FYI...Adidt does have a website if you are interested. It is in Chinese, but has an English version as well (though it is somewhat incoherent! :)).

If you do buy this wireless remote, be sure to let us all know how you like it. It is nice to have some alternatives to the Canon versions of remotes. Good luck!
