Glen,,,now I look at this image it does almost look monochrome..I suppose the early morning sun has something to do with it..

It's an ok picture. I really liked your shot of the children playing, but this one seems somehow not at that same level and I can't put my finger on it. I think maybe its the direction of the lighting that's not terribly attractive. I like the shadowing on the right side of his head, but the chin shadow on his neck is a little obtrusive to my eye.
