View Full Version : Good Alternative to Adobe Bridge

I'm getting sick of using Adobe Bridge, although the functionality it has is great, I just can't stand all the stupid bugs and how slow it is.

My workflow has been to use Bridge to add keywords and ratings (color coded and star rankings) to my RAW images. I like to use it to filter through the many photos I take to filter out those images that aren't great, or that are applicable to what I'm trying to do.

I then open the images up in ACR to apply exposure settings (sometimes individually, sometimes as a batch process depending on the situation).

From there I open them in Photoshop to do any additional editing that I may want to do.

ACR has worked well for me and if there's a way to keep ACR in my workflow, but replace Bridge with something that's more responsive with the same, or similar functionality I'll be in heaven.

Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Picasa2 is good free software that I use for maintaining tabs on all my photos. I use Lightroom too for raw image adjustment but Picasa's great for doing quick bits and even for resizing images for POTN!

I assume you're referring to Bridge CS3?
What about Bridge CS2? ;) (assuming you upgraded from CS2 to CS3)

Other options: PhotoMechanic or iView. But both are different programs, with more functionality.

^^^ In my experience, Bridge CS3 is faster and much more responsive than CS2 version. Not sure about the bugs.

Download the free trial version of Lightroom and give that a try.
