How long do they last? About 3 months (Jan 20 - today).

How many photos? Approximately 400.

Voltage* - 1.7(new), 1.55(when replaced).

Total cost? 4 bucks (1¢/photo).

Under what conditions? Leaving the LCD monitor on constantly, repeated toggling back and forth between camera and monitor (opening and closing the lens), using the monitor for impromptu slide shows, and generally not giving a hoot how long the batteries would last.

Summary - highly recommended. YBMV

* very old multimeter, unreliable.

Lithium batteries can be very good. I just hope people don't have the same bad experiences I had on TWO occasions when the 1.6v of the lithium batteries proved to be too much for devices I treasured. One was a Prolinear Mininote computer which unfortunately is no longer made so I'm left with an unfixable doorstop, and Two was a Grundig YB30 (not sure of number there) which I got for $50 on special; a little pocket-sized shortwave radio. Both of those were ruined by that little extra voltage and there was nothing I could do about it. So just be careful and check to be sure the extra voltage will be tolerated. Good luck!

I love the lithium. Rechargables last me 2 hours. Lithiums last me an entire week if I don't shoot every single day.

I just got back from Panama, was there 9 days, shot 538 pics. I put in a fresh set of Liths when I left and the batteries died the day after I got home. Way dependable.

9 days, may be a bit too long for standard NiMh batteries to hold the full charge. Unless the enloop-type of NiMh battaries, which holds 80% over a much longer period.

but if you were to be a trigger happy person, like me - clocking 300 -400 shots a day, taking multiple shots and pose. I think the bill will add up and NiMh batteries will still be a more budget oriented option - not forgetting the envirnmental part of disposing Lithium batteries

Update - got only 6 weeks and just under 300 photos from the most recent set of lithiums. The last 260 photos were taken in three days, kind of a workout for a compact camera, no?

2 batteries instead of 4 seems more and more like a design flaw...
