Since installing SP2 I have had problems with Epson 2100. I have been to MS and Epson and done my best to follow advice there. Anyway, first problem was installing the drivers but managed that. Now, I get really dark prints coming off.
Anyone else had this problem?
I admit that I'm not very good at this printing lark and understanding technical stuff about profiles and drivers so, I manage to waste huge amounts of money on ink and paper!
I notice that Epson USA have new drivers for the 2200. Would it make a difference or a problem installing these for my 2100? Any other good advice (Websites or books) that will help me progress to Guru status on the printing front would be good.
Thanks

I was involved with the marketing of the Epson Stylus Pro series printers here in the states until September of this year. While the 2200 (and 2100) are not exactly what Epson classifies "Professional" level printers (they prefer the term Pro-sumer) I did encounter a number of users in my marketing efforts for the larger, more expensive printers.
The only thing I have left in my notes is a number for the Epson 2200 Technical Support group in Long Beach California. If you want, Try calling them, these are the guys that only deal with that printer and might be able to help you. Their number is: (562)276-7296.
What computer are you using and what Operating system? I know there are some major Issues with the newer Macintosh operating system that Epson does not really plan (as far as I know) on addressing at this time.

What software are you using to make your prints?
You could be using color profiles in both the software that is printing and in the device driver. I have heard this causes problems.

No problems here with the 2100 and SP2. I know that is not that helpful but at least you know it CAN work.

I use a PIII Laptop with 1GB Ram.
I had terrible trouble installing my printers after the SP2 install.
I tend to print using the Epson Photoquicker utility. For some reason, I can get better results with this than PS CS. Like I say, I still haven't got used to profiles and all that stuff! And I could never get PS to print edge to edge.
Anyway, for now I just know that I get really dark prints using my 2100.
What about those 2200 drivers on the US web site?
Thanks for replying

Something you guys might want to check into is the Epson Print Academy.

I am taking the short video course right now and picking up some good stuff on PS CS. Until yesterday, when I discovered I have to have a crown replaced in March, I was going to get either a SP 2200 or a Epson SP 4000 printer right after the first of the year. Now it will have to wait.
The Print Academy is a pretty good series of videos about digital output in general.
