Question about updating website

So I made the mistake of uploading my site to godaddy and forgot to attach meta tags before I did so. :oops: So I've gone into Dreamweaver and added some tags to the home page and saved it as welcome.html (same file name as what's there now). Would I only have to upload the welcome.html file or would I have to upload everything again?

Only the welcome.html, assuming that you only changed the meta on that page.

I've uploaded the new main page with the tags but I don't think it works very well. Even if I type almost all of my tag words in google it still won't come up with my page. The only way I can find my page with a google search is to type my first and last name, which also happens to be my URL.

I should mention that I didn't type a page description. I don't know if that matters or not.

Check out cosworth's sticky about SEO optimization. Meta tags aren't gonna make you rise to the top on google by themselves.
