I am in the process of trying to go full time professional photographer. Most of my work is via recommendations. I am trying to bring in work via my web site from the local area. I am getting visits to my website but no business from it. Since my primary shop from is my web site and i am paying for advertising, do i need to change something on my web site ? What has worked for you?
Pricing on the web site ?

Many Thanks

JMO......
i'd say to design your site more like what you'd be providing to your potential clients. so if you do weddings, then maybe an elegant layout and fonts to reflect that? i'm sure others here have much more detailed info and could help you better..... :)

as for economical hosting (until you start seeing profits) i currently use yahoo w/my own domain name. keep the costs low since i just started my business :)

I am getting visits to my website but no business from it. Response from direct mail is about 1% I think. Don't know why you get no work from it, but maybe you aren't passing out enough cards & talking to enough people?
I use my .com site just to overview what I've done, & link to the .net "Sell site", but expect to get the business by face-to-face contact after I give them my card. The site is just to show that they'll get what they pay for.

Theres nothing at all I can see that says what country you are in let alone what area of that country.. Whats the point of ringing your mobile to find your 3 thousand miles away. Theres hundreds of other wedding tog sites I dont need to phone to see they are local to me .

Get your locality on the front page.. one of the first things they can see..thats my advice for what its worth :)

Thanks Kipax
It is amazing what annother eye looking over the web site will spot. I never thought about putting location on the front page. Many Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
Cheers
