Very interesting, and I'm glad the issue is seeping into the minds of the general public.
I took a shot of children playing in Piran, Slovenia once. Just a candid shot of them jumping off the edge of a wharf into water.
Of course, here in the UK, people would instantly be wary of me because of the subject matter. The kids were wearing swimming costumes, so I must be some form of sicko, right? I'm sure the police would've been called.

I've also been stopped before by Police at a train station taking shots during rush hour. Initially the Police wanted to know why I was taking pictures etc, and once we'd gotten to the bottom of that, they told me I simply needed to get a permit from the station office if I wanted to take pictures (they could've told me that without the inquisition).

I'm sure we've all been subject to something like this, especially shooting in London. But this sort of thing and the posters don't make our hobby any easier. Does anyone else sometimes get pangs of guilt and suspicion when shooting?

Agreed. Around Canary Wharf, I was approached countless times on the same day. One officer was nice enough to explain the reason for caution and warmly thanked us for our time.

It just depends on who you run into and how you respond. Sometimes a walm response is not provided. Its only going to get worse.
